Title: BFT plans for 2009! (Iron Horse, New Album, and MORE!)
Post by: AGertOne on November 12, 2008, 07:31:07 PM
So as pointed out in another thread, Barefoot Truth will be playing 2 shows in 1 night at the Iron Horse in Northampton, MA.  Here are the details:

2 Shows 1 Night. Seated acoustic show at 7pm, standing electric show at 9pm. Tickets are $12 per show or $20 (advance only) for 2 shows. http://www.nbotickets.com/Barefoot-Truth.asp

Other cool things to note:

-New album coming out in 2009 (I've heard a few of the tracks and they sound AMAZING)
-HUGE college tour to be announced soon (Over 30 shows I believe)
-The band plans on a tour for the Elias Fund to colleges with Elias Clubs this Spring
-The BFT guys also plan on making it out to new territory with some Midwest dates!

i can see big things for the future.

i guess you can add john becoming a full time member as well? also i think in the 5 min that i took between the post for the april 3 show and this one i already have multiple cars going to the show. i got a ton of response for it being 7:30 in the morning and the fact that it is so far away

True, I did leave out the addition of the keys, which have proven to be an integral element of the live show lately, and also in a lot of these new tracks!

well i guess you can also go with the evolution of sound that barefoot has taken. started off acoustic and beach chill, then added andy and go funky, then added keys and seem like they are getting jamie cullum-ish (jazzy for those of you that dont know jamie cullum and should check him out)

Yeah the BFT guys have definitely constantly been working towards a unique sound.

i think a lot of that is andys doing. andy brought wayno in and you can tell that the little intricacies that the songs have developed over the years are his doing. hes definitely they strongest musician.

Yeah true,

As an aside, who thinks that Will needs a good wireless mic for his vocals at the shows, seems like it would make his task a bit easier, but I'm not sure if that works or not with quality, being able to change your distance from the mic, etc.

Title: Re: BFT plans for 2009! (Iron Horse, New Album, and MORE!)
Post by: Kevin on November 17, 2008, 08:28:17 PM
well that and they just look goofy

Post by: AGertOne on November 17, 2008, 11:12:02 PM
Yeah but Will trying to keep his head in place while drumming also looks goofy sometimes.

Title: Re: BFT plans for 2009! (Iron Horse, New Album, and MORE!)
Post by: mace on November 18, 2008, 07:17:25 AM
i disagree. no wireless mic, that would just look stupid. wills goofy faces are one of my fav parts of shows. plus being a drummer myself, keeping your head in place for a mic is not hard. if you took away wills mic he would most likely still keep his head where the mic is supposed to be due to the face that he is used to it.

Well put.

Another thing important to this year that I thought I'd carry over to this thread discussion since it died out in others is the name we call the BFT reps for the new rep section of their website.

Ideas?

One so far is the "foot clan"... No offense, but I'm not a big fan of that, sounds like a cult that worships feet.

Idea of mine to get the discussion going... "Truth Seekers"  ... ???

i really liked the foot clan but now that you say truth seekers, that is damn good. ill try and think of something clever

these two just popped in my head

"All Good Feet"

"Foot Walkers"

how about just, "the truth"

only sometimes i refer to bft as "the truth" so i guess it could get confusing....

Title: Re: BFT plans for 2009! (Iron Horse, New Album, and MORE!)
Post by: Axness on November 18, 2008, 07:50:46 PM
but just think how awesome that would be if someone said "hey, what're you doing?" you could be all "oh, nothing. just reppin' The Truth."

Post by: AGertOne on November 18, 2008, 08:52:20 PM
Maybe something as simple as "Truth Reps"?

I really love Truth Seekers now that I think more about it too...  Seeing that BFT is the Truth and we are those who are seeking that truth by spreading the music that contains it.  Maybe I'm just getting a bit too philosophical though here.

Title: Re: BFT plans for 2009! (Iron Horse, New Album, and MORE!)
Post by: Axness on November 18, 2008, 09:09:43 PM
philosophical no. logical. yes. I am personally starting to agree with Truth Seekers. by the way great Talib Kweli song on the other post Gert (just simpler than AGertOne)

Title: Re: BFT plans for 2009! (Iron Horse, New Album, and MORE!)
Post by: AGertOne on November 18, 2008, 09:10:42 PM
Haha Gert actually happens to be my most commonly used nickname by friends as well, first half of my last name.

I wouldn't credit the song to Talib Kweli though, it's just featuring him, but he is one of the few rappers that I admire.  It's rare that a rapper is as socially conscious and intelligent as he is.

Back to Barefoot Truth though...

I propose some Truth Seekers make a trip to the midwest when BFT plays out there.

Post by: mace on November 19, 2008, 07:48:57 AM
i think those shows go in direct violation of what will told me. "we will only play in places where we can ski or surf" and dont try going all smart on me by saying you can surf the great lakes cause thats just dumb. you can but it only happens like 1 day a year.

other then that it would be sweet! we could go on a road trip and write "seeking truth" on our van

Title: Re: BFT plans for 2009! (Iron Horse, New Album, and MORE!)

foot clan.

it was chosen by... will i think.

one of the guys. its a reference to teenage mutant ninja turtles.

Title: Re: BFT plans for 2009! (Iron Horse, New Album, and MORE!)
Post by: AGertOne on November 19, 2008, 06:24:44 PM
Actually you can both ski and surf in the midwest... Plenty of "mountains" in Wisconsin and Michigan...  Anyhow, it moves them closer to real skiing out west, which even the East coast skiing fails to rival.

As for surfing, the same comparison exists, it would just move them closer to the west coast where real surfing exists.

Proof haha:

via wiki--

"The Foot Clan is a fictional Ninjutsu clan in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles universe, and the Turtles' main antagonists. It is usually led by The Shredder.

The Foot Clan was originally inspired by the criminal ninja clan The Hand in the Daredevil comics. In addition to the obvious similarity in their names, both clans originate from Feudal Japan, practice Ninjutsu and black magic, and are now powerful global organized crime rings"

thoughts:

- Ninjutsi involves the practice of "unconventional warfare"
- in the ninja turtles the foot clan represents bad/evil
- having our rep's name spawn from a criminal ninja clan that is now a powerful global organized crime ring is sort of scary and counterproductive to the messages laid down by the truth. .... i think.

maybe its just me, but when i watched the turtles back in the day i was always on the turtle's side... not the criminals. why should we be in support of the criminals? in support of evil?

dramatic? maybe. haha but give it a think.

im still in support of something about the truth. truth seekers - we might have to be careful about copyright laws (i just googled "truth seekers" and a few companies have already branded that name - s/a a newspaper)

she my initial reaction was trespassers but i freakin love that song

might have similar problems with negative connotations tho?

Title: Re: BFT plans for 2009! (Iron Horse, New Album, and MORE!)
Post by: AGertOne on November 25, 2008, 02:04:11 AM
Yeah I mean the last thing that we want to come across as doing is "tresspassing" on peoples personal territory in spreading the truth.

Team Truth...

Title: Re: BFT plans for 2009! (Iron Horse, New Album, and MORE!)
Post by: katey on November 25, 2008, 08:21:06 AM
i interpret trespassing as questioning sort of... like questioning the government, questioning the news, the "truth".

and the govt doesnt like when we trespass... or question things, so they might try to punish us for it?

and also all we leave are footsteps where we trespass... but when they "trespass" it fucks everything up... kind of thing...?

you've lit a fire in the truth and its about to ignite

all i leave are my footsteps behind

so i dont think it's got that negative connotation attached with it, anyway. i could be way off though haha.

i like team truth too, but im def a bigger fan of trespassers

Trespassers sounds pretty good to me.  If you look at it from the song's perspective, it really does work i guess... I'll pass that on to spencer if Jenna and Kate haven't already.

Title: Re: BFT plans for 2009! (Iron Horse, New Album, and MORE!)
Post by: FriendOfIshmael on November 25, 2008, 02:52:31 PM
Yeah, in reference to the song, I think they try to express the point that the Earth is in fact "no man's land" so there shouldn't actually be such term as 'trespassing'. You might think this weakens the case behind the name 'trespassers', but I personally feel it stands for something pretty significant. Besides, I'd rather be known for trespassing than not doing anything at all. At least when you trespass you're standing up against something and not letting others determine where and where you can't go and what you can and can't do. I probably did a bad job of expressing my point, and probably got too deep here, but what I'm trying to get to is that I like "Trespassers". Obviously it's not gonna be my decision but it's got my vote.

Wow, I can't believe I've been missing out on this discussion. I, personally, like the "Foot Clan" because it was the name we were more or less given by Will. And we can't let the negative connotations of the the word "clan" get in the way of that, haha. I do really like "Feet Fleet" too though.

All very true, I guess it should be the name that we as the reps like best and that the band likes best and not too concerned with what others think.  I just don't want it to scare away a potentially interested rep because it's called "foot clan" haha.  Doubt that would happen too often tho, and if they are scared away, then they're shallow anyways i guess.

yet another trippy BFT video clip from Higher Ground.

Haha, definitely still trippy, but if you noticed, comparing this one to Eagle Front, each shot seems to last at least a few seconds longer.  Slightly easier on the eyes and less trippy.
